Dear Lexington Supporter,

The Lexington Foundation’s largest fundraising and “friend-raising” event of the year is our NIGHT OUT, set for Friday, September 22, 2017. This event will be held at our beautiful Paul Nigra Center for Creative Arts and will be a celebration of all that Lexington offers to support individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. With the opening of the Nigra Arts Center and Transitions, we have expanded the wonderful opportunities we offer to so many. Open to all, the Nigra Arts Center is a tremendous benefit to our community, offering classes, events and programs for people of all ages and abilities. Transitions is making a difference in the lives of students and families by providing the training and skills needed for students to live independently and follow their college and career dreams.

Our celebration of what we do, and what is still to be done, is your opportunity to share in the dream and help us make a difference in the lives of individuals and families in our community. Attending and/or sponsoring our event can make this all the more possible. We can’t do it without your support and we think the goodwill you will receive by being part of our celebration is a great investment in our future and in our greater community.

Please join us for this incredible event! And, if you wish to become a sponsor, we have several levels to choose from. If you would like us to create a special sponsorship package just for you, we are happy to meet with you to develop one.

Thank you for your continued support and we can't wait to see you at the NIGHT OUT!

Wally Hart
Executive Director, The Lexington Foundation

A Few Examples of What your support can do...

flame23 (3).jpg

Since her autism diagnosis at age three, Michelle King has displayed remarkable determination, hard work and self-awareness in her journey from a child who couldn’t communicate to the lead singer of a world-renowned rock band. This role has transformed her into an ambassador for the entire field of developmental disabilities. It’s a huge responsibility, which she handles gracefully. With her music and message, she teaches compassion and acceptance to everyone and shows people all over the world who live with disabilities how to not be inhibited by them.

Coty.jpg

Before Coty Rulison became a student in the Transitions program, he didn’t talk much, had trouble managing his time, didn’t know how to advocate for himself and struggled with his coursework. Things began to change when Coty enrolled in Transitions. Now he is unrecognizable from the silent loner he was before he came to Transitions. Today, Coty is motivated, organized, socially active, clean-cut, independent and outspoken about his ideas, thoughts and needs. He has become a Dean’s List college student, well on his way to earning a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Conservation. He uses his newfound leadership skills to help his peers as an ambassador for the Transitions program and an RA at the Transitions supportive apartments.

Jose Kemp.jpg

Jose Kemp attended a number of cooking classes at the Nigra Arts Center. Soon after, he mentioned that he not only wanted to learn how to cook, he wanted to teach others what he had learned. He was partnered with a teaching chef who helped him plan his menu, shopping list, method for teaching the class, marketing and prep for the actual class. A year later, he is having great success teaching classes that are open to the community. This has also helped him in his desire to become more independent and attain the skills and confidence he will need to live on his own.
